Tile and Stone
By Nelly Prado
The finishing touch to a fine home is the elegance of stone and fine stone is what we do best. I am Nelly Prado owner of Aurora Marble & Tile and for over 15 years marble, slate, granite and almost every other stone has been my life¹s work and passion. My greatest joy comes not from selling fine stone, but from showing what unique designs can be achieved with combining different materials. I want my clients¹ entry or master bath to be a work of art far beyond its function. Whether it is new construction or a remodel, natural stone and tile have continually been at the forefront of designs. Many architects and designers are using a broad range of natural stone applications, including design elements such as granite countertops and bathroom tiles, which have become a style of today¹s middle class and high-end residences. These same professionals have used natural stone and tile to create boulder looks, such as rugged slate flooring and elaborate medallions cut in a variety of stones, or pillowed edge limestone wall tile to create a soft three-dimensional effect.
But no matter whether stone or tile is being used in a traditional manner or for cutting-edge designs, they are playing an ever increasing role in today¹s housing markets. On the retail front, natural stone is also enjoying a prominent role. As retailers compete for dollars, they are turning to stone and tile to attract potential customers and to provide a durable working surface in a demanding high-traffic environment. So whether stone or tile are being used as a home improvement or as a way to attract business to a retail operation, they remain just as important as ever to design in today¹s marketplace.
You can meet Nelly Prado in person and see a beautiful variety of stone and tile options at the Truckee Home Show on Memorial Day Weekend. Or visit the Aurora Marble Showroom located at 4999 Aircenter Circle, Suite 104 in Reno. They have a diverse selection ranging from porcelain, metal, glass, mosaics, art tile, granite, marble, marble, limestone, travertine, soapstone, onyx, slate & quartzite. For more information call 775-829-1177.
